Cartoon's becoming reality

Meadham Kirchoff SS12

Since my trip to Tokyo, I have been fascinated by the culture. The fashion is colourful, crazy, cute, wacky and quite simply light years ahead of the western world. The craze for luxury labels is seen everywhere in the frantic city. The need for real fur is very apparent, every street corner selling fur trimmed bags, clothes, key rings and even a real fur hair slide I spotted. Music pumping through speakers on the pavement, lights bulbs flash up and down buildings. The Streets are awash with Harajuku girls giggling down the high street with 25 key rings swinging from their bags. It’s an incredible sight. You can just stand there and watch the city rush from A to B in a split second. The bustling city renowned for its fashion and unique street style is why many designers take inspiration from the hugely populated city. Seen here at the Meadham Kirchhoff Spring Summer SS12 show last year. It’s clear that the girls from Tokyo influenced the two boys from Central Saint Martin’s. Popping from stores everywhere are sweet candy pastels, cartoon prints and ice cream sweetness.
Sickly sweet or Delectably Delicious?? ...

Zombie Muse

Little bit obsessed with this gent at the moment. Totally fascinating body art, the man behind the tattoos Rick Genest is Canadian born. After under going surgery at 15 to remove a brain tumour. He had his first tattoo at the tender age of 17. I guess you can say it grew from there. His friend and tattooist Frank Lewis designed the tattoos together. He's since gathered such a following that he's become an icon in his own right. First appearing for many, on Lady Gaga's video 'Born this way.' (Think that may have been the first time Gaga was out done in the fashion stakes.) The Zombie Boy has since starred in many fashion shoots and seen here on the front row. He's a fucking ledge in my eyes.

Rick Owens plays with fire

Rick Owen AW12 Images courtesy of I-D

Dark forces gathered in Paris yesterday, as the Rick Owens show raised from the fires of hell. Sumptuous fabrics draped the models and netted woven balaclavas masked their faces. Grey, black and checks was seen again. This is the colour palette seen through many shows for fall. Looks more like a uprising than a fashion show ?!...

Swedish Elle // march edition 12.
Love this shoot with Swedish Elle. Bare midrifts are a key trend this season. Seen sashaying on the waists of Dolce and Gabbana, Philip Lim, Prada and Alexander Wang models. The orange skirt from Acne above is amazing. I really want to get on board with this trend for summer. Maybe a few sit ups first though. Want the bouffant hair too actually...
